"The hypnotic, meditative music, composed by Alice Trueman, is outstanding"
"It was the superb soundtrack by Alice Trueman and Polly Thomas' evocative production which were the atmospheric stars here."
"The intense and esoteric loneliness... is perfectly captured by Alice Trueman's crystalline, synth-based soundtrack" Solaris can be purchased on CD at Amazon.co.uk or Play.com. BiographyAlice Trueman is a violinist and music graduate who writes soundtracks for film, TV, radio, animation and video games. She writes in a wide variety of styles including orchestral scores, electronic music, folk, jazz, pop, dance music and experimental soundscapes. She also recently began teaching Music and the Moving Image and Music History at degree level as a part-time visiting lecturer. In 2006, Alice was chosen from over 1500 entrants as one of the 12 finalists in BBC New Talent's national competition to find new TV Composers. She was also one of the winners of Channel 4's Ideasfactory Soundtrack Talent Search in 2004, and in May 2005 she was short-listed as one of the "hottest young creatives" in the Midlands in Channel 4's Creative Class Competition. Alice has composed otherworldly electronic scores for two BBC radio adaptations, 'Solaris' broadcast on Radio 4, and 'Girlfriend in a Coma' for Radio 3. She has also worked for Channel 4 composing music for their 4Talent podcasts. She has scored for many short films, including documentaries, comedies and dramas.
Her recent works include a dark experimental score for a live action/animated short 'Momster' produced by Rachel Carter for the Screen West Midlands Digi Shorts scheme. She also recently composed a quirky electronic score for a vampire-romantic-comedy 'Blood Actually', directed by Paul Hardy, and a jazz score for a documentary about industrial history in the Midlands. Highlights of previous years include writing and recording a ska song 'Zebedee' with local band Skadigan, for a documentary about the 2-Tone scene in Coventry. She has also scored four 'Brummiewood' films, a scheme run by the Birmingham School of Acting, and several more Digi Shorts including 'Phizog', a quirky, sinister animation by Neil Webber. In 2005 she composed the music for a 20 minute documentary about the Coventry Blitz funded by the Royal Mail, for screening in primary schools nationwide. Alice has several projects in the pipeline including another BBC Radio project coming up in April 2010, a brand new play for Radio 3 entitled "Freedom of Information".
