Alice Trueman - Film Score ComposerAlice is a composer for film, TV, radio and other media based in the United Kingdom. She has just been nominated for Best Music Award at the Benelux International Film Festival for her ground-breaking sci-fi score for feature Revolution X, directed by Matt Cannon. The multi-award winning film is currently making waves at festivals around the world and will be distributed in LA and Canada later in 2023. Alice is a classically-trained violinist and has a Masters degree with Distinction in Composition and Song-Writing. She combines this classical training with an ability to skilfully draw influences from diverse world and popular music styles. Her talent for audience-pleasing, memorable melodies is combined with a boundary-pushing, innovative and original take on each new project. Alice’s music empathises deeply with the characters onscreen and transmits these emotions in a vivid and powerful way, ranging from terror and deep melancholy all the way to exuberant, upbeat comedy. Alice’s work for the BBC includes a highly evocative, specially-commissioned score for Radio 4’s Art of Now: Migraine. Alice’s innovative version of the Doctor Who theme was used in ‘Skaro’, a documentary on Tom Baker and the Daleks, featured on the BBC Doctor Who Season 17 Blu-ray box set. Her score for R4’s ‘Solaris’, brought her praise in the national press. Other BBC work includes melancholy music for R4’s recent adaptation of Chekov’s play, ‘Three Sisters Rewired’, and her icy score for thriller ‘Noise’. Alice brought apocalyptic undertones to R3’s Girlfriend in a Coma and Dan Rebellato penned ‘And So Say All of Us’. She has written production music for Synctracks Music Library and Universal and she has had syncs on TV series 'Warrior' (Cinemax / HBO Max), BBC doc ‘Patisserie With Michel Roux Jr’ and Channel 5’s ‘Killers Behind Bars’ and ‘Nightmare Neighbour Next Door’. Her library music has been use across Europe, America and Canada, also featuring in promo for AU, the second-largest wireless carrier in Japan. Other clients include Channel 4, Oxford University Press, Graeae Theatre, and international companies BD Biosciences and GKN Engineering. She scored the comedy feature film 'Turbulence' directed by BAFTA-winner Michael B Clifford, and many shorts: comedies such as multi award- winning Titanic Love, animations, documentaries, dramas and corporate videos. In 2012 she reached the finals of the BBC's Baroque Remixed competition and in 2006 was a finalist in BBC New Talent's search to find new TV composers. She was one of the winners of Channel 4's Soundtrack Talent Search in 2004 and picked by Channel 4 as one of the ‘Hottest Young Creatives in the Midlands’ in 2005. Alice is also a music educator and with a decade of experience teaching film composition up to Postgraduate level as a visiting lecturer. |

Reviews for Alice's score for R4's dramatisation of ‘Solaris':
If you want a composer who can work to a brief and the director’s vision then Alice is the one.
I would highly recommend Alice to anyone.
Her ability to adapt to direction and consistently amaze us with her
work showcases her professionalism. I look forward to working with Alice
again in the future whenever the opportunity arises.
I have had the pleasure of working with Alice on several BBC radio
dramas and short independent films. Alice is always great to work
with, giving a huge amount to every project and very receptive to
discussion. She is meticulous in researching the brief and good at
turning her hand to many different styles. Her music is always
delivered on time and really enhances the dramatic material.
I have known Alice for a number of years, in her work as film
soundtrack and radio composer, backing track arranger and teacher!
Alice is great to work with - nothing is too much trouble - and she
always gets the job done. Her set of backing tracks for OUP's Junior
Voiceworks at Christmas are mini-masterpieces
