PhiZog dir. Neil Webber (2006)

An animated short about a very naughty boy (Phizog) who pulls horribly contorted faces despite warnings that he'll stick like that when the wind changes! A folk score using live accordion, penny whistle and violin, with dark and sinister under-currents.

Falsely Accused dir. Lewin Fitzhamon (1905)

This soundtrack achieved Joint Third Place in the Final of Channel 4's Ideasfactory Soundtrack Talent Search in April 2004.

19 Finalists were selected from more than 500 aspiring composers to write the score for a 14 minute short, a silent melodrama about an innocent clerk who is framed for a bank robbery.

This excerpt accompanies the scene where the villain robs the safe in the dead of night. Samples of live violin are built up, layer by layer, into shifting soundscapes, underscored by a repeated ostinato on Jew's harp. This eerie, atmospheric music illustrates the flickering shadows cast by the felon's gas lamp as he commits the crime.
